Firstly, Let’s pray to the Almaigty God for his blessing given to us today, so that today we can stay here in healty condition to join this speech competition. Secondly, allow me in this happy occasion to introduce my self. My name is Nur Baiti Salma. My friends call me Salma. I’m a student of Junior High School 2 Gemolong Sragen. And today I would like to talk about “ BE SMARTER GENERATION BY READING BOOKS”. Ladies and gentlemen, many people say that “Book is the window of the world”. Some people also say “Book is the pillar of our life”. Do you think so? You may say Yes or No. But when we talk about books, we know that books have a close realitionship with reading. Well, let’s see the condition around us. Some of us say that reading is a boring activity. Reading take so much time and energy. Even doing reading is tiring. On the other hand some disagree about it.They say that reading is an interesting activity. It’s fun. We can get happiness by reading funny stories or some nice articles. We can get more and more information by reading books, newspaper, or magazines, so we will see the happening events in all countries in the world. Furthermore, by reading we can improve our technology by mastering computers. Let’s see the countries having high technology, like Japan, USA, German, etc. Most of the societies love reading so much. What about our country? Ladies and gentlemen, books can also be our best friends, for example, anytime we have many problems in our life, but we can’t tell them to others, we can share or express them in a diary book. Cool, isn’t it? In other words book can be the expression our self, our heart, the implementation of our imagination. There are many successful people starting from books. They can their dreams by writing short stories, comics or even novels and finally become famous. Moreover they can motivate other people or the readers with the articles they wrote. Ladies and gentlemen, looking at the illustration above, well see how important books in our life. As student, the young generation, how stupid I’m, how stupid you’re, how stupid we’re, if we stay away from books because book is the core of the information and technology. Open your eyes, open your heart. Books are definitely important for us. Just imagine our life without books. Ladies and gentlemen, if we are students, lazy in reading, lazy visiting library, well, we won’t get the best. So, what we do now? From now on we have to change our behavior. Love reading, open books and read a lot. Reading, reading and reading. No days without reading. Ladies and gentlemen, Don’t let the library lonely without reading activity. Let’s walk to our library and have a look. Your brighter future is there. Because your future the Indonesian future, is in your hands, young generation. Let’s make our country better and better from a small step to bigger changes by loving reading. If indonesian society are reading lovers, of course our country will be much better. Because our country needs smart people to face the coming problems. Whereas, it is getting worse and worse if we don’t have a strong commitment to do so. Ladies and gentlemen, Who will love our country? Who will care our culture ? foreigners ? No Way! Us ? yes of course. Don’t let the foreigners take ours. Let’s say in your heart, in my heart, I love Indonesia. I will care my country, my culture, till the last blood drop. To be powerful generation, Ladies and gentlemen, be reading your best friend.
