ABSTRAK
Apendisitis adalah satu proses inflamasi akut usus buntu akibat invasi
bakteri. Apendisitis timbul bersamaan sakit periumblikal yang menjalar ke
kuadran kanan bawah (QKB). Apendisitis akut sering dikaitan dengan leukositosis
sedang (10.000-18.000/mm3). Pemeriksaan jumlah leukosit adalah satu jenis
pemeriksaan laboratorium yang membantu dalam mendiagnosa apendisitis akut.
Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan studi retrospektif
yang dilakukan di RSUP Haji Adam Malik, Medan propinsi Sumatera Utara.
Sampel yang diambil adalah pemeriksaan darah lengkap kesemua pasien
apendisitis akut yang tercatat dalam rekam medis periode 1 Januari 2009 hingga
31 Desember 2009.
Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk menentukan jumlah leukosit pada pasien
apendisitis akut di RSUPHAM, Medan tahun 2009.
Dari penelitian ini diketahui bahawa jumlah leukosit dengan kadar
leukositosis sedang adalah 10.000-18.000/mm3 dengan 42 orang (73.7%) sampel
dari total 57 sampel. Lelaki mencatat 25 orang (59.5%) dan perempuan sebanyak
17 orang (40.5%).
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan, jumlah leukosit pada
pasien apendisitis akut berdasarkan kelamin yang ditemui mendukung hasil
penelitian lain yang telah dilaksanakan.

ABSTRACT
Appendicitis is an acute inflammatory process of appendix resulting from
obstruction of lumen with subsequent bacterial invansion. Appendicitis present
with preumblicial pain that later migrates to the right lower quadrant (RLQ). It is
classically associated with mild leukocytosis (10.000-18.000/mm3). Total
leukocyte count is one of the helpful examination being evaluated in this study.
This is a retrospective study done in a descriptive manner. The datas were
collected from the complete blood count of acute appendicitis patients recorded in
the medical record from 1st of January 2009 until 31st of December 2009.
The purpose of the study is to determine the Total Leukocyte Count(TLC)
of the acute appendicitis patient from RSUP Haji Adam Malik, Medan on the
2009.
From the research it is known that from the total leukocyte count, mild
leukocytosis ranged from 10.000-18.000/mm3. The higher recorded data
was 42 people (73.7%) out of the total 57samples. Men was more to suffer
with 25 persons (59.5%) and women as many as 17 people (40.5%).
According to the study that was done, it can be concluded that the total
leukocyte count of the acute appendicitis patient showed according to sex, and age
supports the studies which were done earlier by others.
