1. Focus on the learner
There are to dimensions to this learner involvement. First, the
involvement of learnes in making decisions about what to learn, how to
learn, and how to be evaluated. Second, is in maximizing the class time
in which the learners, rather than the teacher, do the work.
2. Develop your own personal methodology
Related observation is that just as learners have their own learning
styles, so teachers have their own teaching styles.

Here are some other ways to
add gist listening.
Main ideas Write the main idea for the recording on the
board, along with three or four distracters.
What is the order? When the listening text is a story, list five
or six events from the story.
Which picture? If pictures are available (e.g., one from the
particular listening page of your textbook and distracters
from elsewhere in the book) students can listen and identify
the one that goes with what they are hearing.
