POLA KOMUNIKASI YANG DIPERGUNAKAN OLEH WANITA
DENGAN ORIENTASI SEKSUAL LESBI DALAM MELAKUKAN
KETERBUKAAN DIRI TERHADAP LINGKUNGAN SOSIALNYA
(Studi Kasus Wanita Lesbian di Yogyakarta)

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pola komunikasi yang
dipergunakan oleh wanita lesbian dalam melakukan keterbukaan diri terhadap
lingkungan sosialnya, dan mengetahui tanggapan dari teman-teman terdekat
lesbian. Lokasi penelitian dilakukan di Yogyakarta.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan
menggunakan wawancara in-depth interview dan observasi partisipan. Subyek
penelitian terdiri dari lima orang perempuan lesbian dan lima orang yang berstatus
bukan lesbian. Cara pengambilan sampel subyek penelitian adalah dengan
menggunakan purposive sampling. Analisis data yang di gunakan dalam
penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masing-masing lesbian dalam
melakukan pengungkapan diri berbeda-beda sesuai kepribadian masing-masing.
Konsep diri pada lesbian menjadi faktor terpenting untuk memilih komunikasi
yang tepat dalam melakukan pengungkapan diri terkait orientasi seksual mereka.
Adapun tanggapan teman-teman dekat para lesbian terhadap keterbukaan yang
dilakukan beragam. Sebagian ada yang bisa menerima seutuhnya bahwa temannya
seorang lesbian. Namun ada pula yang tidak setuju dengan orientasi seksual lesbi,
tetapi tetap menghargai keberadaan mereka.

THE PATTERN OF COMMUNICATION USED BY WOMEN WITH
LESBIAN SEXUAL ORIENTATION IN THE SELF-DISCLOSURE
TOWARDS THE SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT
(Case Study of Lesbian Women in Yogyakarta)

The research aimed at finding out the communication pattern used by
lesbian women in doing self-disclosure towards their social environment, and the
responses of their closest friends. The location of the research was in Yogyakarta.
The method of the research use was qualitative by using in-depth interview
and participant observation. The subject of the research consisted of five lesbian
women and five non-lesbian women. The sample collecting technique of the
research subject was by using purposive sampling. The analysis data used in the
research was descriptive qualitative method.
The result of the research showed that every lesbian had different ways in
doing self-disclosure as their own personalities. The self-concept of the lesbian
became the most important factor to choose the appropriate communication in
their self-disclosure related to their sexual orientation. Meanwhile, the responses
of the closet friends of the lesbians towards their self-disclosure varied. Some of
them completely accepted that their friends were lesbians. However, there were
the others who disagreed with lesbian sexual orientation, but they still respected
their existence.
