MAIN IDEA
Main Idea is a statement the author makes about the
topic and what the text is mostly about. The main
idea is usually contained in the topic sentence. Topic
sentence can be the begining or at the end of the
paragraph.
THESIS STATEMENT
A thesis statement is a sentence that
sums up the central point of your paper
or essay. It usually comes near the end of
your introduction. Your thesis will look a
bit different depending on the type of
essay you're writing. But the thesis
statement should always clearly state
the main idea you want to get across.
SUPPORTING DETAIL
Supporting Details are the other
sentences that tell us more about the
main idea or any relevant pieces of
information
that
give
further
information about the main idea.
