A. Background
Religion has significant role for human life. It functions
as a guide to realize a meaningful, peaceful and humanized
living. Considering the significant role of religion for
human
life,
internalization
of
religion
in
individual
becomes a necessity that can be reached by providing people
with an education either in family, school or community.
Religion
education
is
intended
to
improve
students’
spiritual capacity so that they will be deeply devout and
obey the Almighty God and have highest moral. Highest moral
involving ethic, character, and moral are an embodiment of
religion education. Spiritual capacity improvement involves
recognition,
comprehension
and
implantation
of
religious
values, as well as implementation of the said values in
individual or society. The improvement is finally intended
to
optimize
various
human
potentials
where
the
actualizations of which show their dignity as the God’s
creature.
Buddhism
education
is
conducted
involuntarily
and
continually in order to develop students’ skill to devout
and obey the Almighty God and have highest moral, as well
as to improve students’ spiritual capacity in accordance
with the teachings of Buddha.

B. Objective
Buddhism education subject is intended for students to have
the following abilities.
1. Develop faith (Saddha) and obey (Bhakti) to the Almighty
God, Tiratana, Para Bodhisattva and Mahasattva
2. Develop Indonesian human resource who have highest moral
through application of moral (Sila), meditation (Samadhi)
and
wisdom
(Panna)
in
accordance
with
Buddha
Dharma
(Buddhism)
3. Develop Indonesian human resource who have comprehension,
and implementation of Dharma in accordance with Buddha
teachings contained in Buddhist Text Tipitaka/Tripitaka
so that they will become responsible man according to
Dharma principles in their daily life
