ABSTRAK
Latar belakang: Space Maintainer dapat dibuat dari logam atau
resin, dan dapat dibuat baik untuk lepasan atau pun cekat. Space
maintainer dapat juga berfungsi sebagai retainer. Dengan perkembangan
teknologi yang pesat, muncul bahan dan prosedur baru untuk pembuatan
space maintainer, yaitu dari bahan Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint.
Bahan ini diterima dengan baik karena estetiknya lebih baik dari bahan
tradisional dan stainless steel. Selain itu juga mudah dibentuk, memiliki
fatigue resistance dan stabilitas dimensi yang baik. Prosedur laboratori
pembuatan space maintainer dan retainer dengan bahan Thermoplastic
Clear Treatment Splint ini lebih rumit sehingga diperlukan latihan
tambahan. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui prosedur pembuatan space
maintainer dan retainer dengan bahan Thermoplastic Clear Treatment
Splint. Tinjauan pustaka: Space Maintainer merupakan alat yang
digunakan untuk menjaga ruang akibat kehilangan gigi sulung secara dini.
Retainer adalah alat orthodontic yang digunakan untuk mempertahankan
susunan gigi setelah operasi dan segala macam perawatan untuk
menyejajarkan gigi. Adapun macam-macam space maintainer, yaitu space
maintainer cekat dan lepasan. Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint
memiliki ketahanan kimia yang baik dan sifat mudah dibentuk.
Kesimpulan: Prosedur laboratori pembuatan space maintainer dan
retainer dengan bahan Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint adalah
trimming model, penambahan anasir gigi, memasukkan lembar
Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint ke clamping frame, menempatkan
model kerja pada vacuum plate dan memberi bahan separasi,
membiarkan plastik beradaptasi selama 10-15 detik dan mesin diaktifkan,
mengangkat model kerja dari vacuum forming machine, memotong sisa
plastik yang berlebih, finishing dan polishing
.

RETAINER FABRICATION USING THERMOPLASTIC CLEAR
TREATMENT SPLINT

ABSTRACT
Background: Space Maintainer can be made from metal or resin,
and can be made either removable or fixed. Space maintainer also can
fabricating as a retainer. With the rapid technological developments, new
procedure for manufacturing the Space Maintainer was appeared, namely
the materials Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint. This material is well
accepted because of the aesthetic better than traditional materials,
stainless steel, and fixed appliance. It is also easy to set up, has a good
fatigue resistance and dimensional stability. Laboratory procedures of
making space maintainer with Clear Treatment Splint Thermoplastic
material is more complicated because it required additional training.
Purpose: To know the procedures of making Space Maintainer with Clear
Treatment Splint Thermoplastic materials. Review: Space Maintainer is a
device that used to keep the space due to the early loss of deciduous
teeth. As for the kinds of space maintainer, namely fixed and removable
space maintainer. While the material, is used Thermoplastic Clear
Treatment Splint has excellent chemical resistance and easily be formed.
Conclusion: Laboratory procedures of making space maintainer with
Thermoplastic Clear Treatment Splint materials are trimming models, the
addition of dental elements, inserting sheets Thermoplastic Clear
Treatment Splint into the clamping frame, put a model in the vacuum plate
and provide material separation, allowing the plastic to adapt for 10-15
seconds and switch machine, lifting working model of the vacuum forming
