If the PC is not physically connected to the device, Windows will not recognize the new hardware and will not prompt you to install the device driver* This example uses Window XP and the TA824 Maintenance Console. Other systems use the same procedure however other Operating Systems may use a slightly different procedure. 1. Install the Maintenance Console program on your PC or Laptop. Do not connect a USB cable to the system at this time. 2. After you install the Maintenance Console, power the system on, wait for it to boot up, and connect a USB cable from the PC or laptop to the system. (Make sure Maintenance Console Program is closed) 1 3. Windows should detect the new hardware and start the “Found New Hardware Wizard”. Select, “No, not at this time” and then click “Next”. 2 4. Select, “Install From a List or Specific Location (Advanced)” and then click “Next”. 3 5. Make sure “Search for the best driver in these locations” is selected and “Include this location in the search” is checked. Click the “Browse” button and select the location where you copied the drivers or browse to “C:/Program Files/Panasonic/ select the Maintenance Console folder you’re connecting with (i.e. TA-824, TDA-50, etc.), select the USB Driver folder, select the OS folder (i.e. Windows XP, Windows 2000, etc.) and click “Next”. 4 6. Click, “Continue Anyway” on the Window Logo Testing window. 5 7. Click “Finish” 8. At this point, you should be able to connect to the system via USB. Open the Maintenance Console and try to connect using USB. If Windows does not automatically start the “Found New Hardware Wizard”, you can start the Wizard manually. Right mouse click on “My Computer” then left click on “Manage”. In the “Computer Management” window on the left, left click one time on “Device Manager”. Locate the KX-T device on the right. It should either be under “Others” or “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”. Right click on the KX-T device and click “Update Driver”. Follow the steps above to install the driver.
