PRELIMINARY In the present, industrial development in Indonesia is increasingly being intensified. With the development of the industry, it certainly requires the support of human resources who meet the qualifications and the ability to work well. Especially with the existence of the MEA (ASEAN Economic Community) where one of the points is the flow of labor from other countries in the ASEAN region that can enter to seek employment in Indonesia, the quality and carrying capacity of human resources in Indonesia is very much needed to be improved. So that the abilities and qualifications of Indonesian workers can compete with the quality of labor from other ASEAN countries. In connection with that, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) views that collaboration between educational and industrial institutions needs to be done in order to provide opportunities for students to improve the quality, abilities, soft skills and skills possessed by students. The hope of this collaboration, students who will become the output of ITS and will play a role and work in the industrial world, especially in the field of engineering, will provide optimal support for the industry and can hone their abilities. Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya as one of the technology-based educational institutions and techniques put in place Job Training activities in the ITS education curriculum in order to develop and improve the quality of students to meet the qualifications in accordance with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI). Opportunities to do practical work are expected to provide knowledge and insight for every student to know the working conditions in the field, to know their role as human resources in industrial carrying capacity, and develop constructive thinking patterns that can solve problems with solutions in accordance with the knowledge and abilities they have. With this background, students of the ITS Shipping Systems Engineering Department are determined to be able to learn and explore knowledge in order to hone skills in their fields by carrying out practical work in the industrial world directly. So that the students of the Shipping Systems Engineering Department gain insight into the shipbuilding industry, possessing capable capabilities in their fields. So that students have the provision to enter the workforce and actively participate in developing the maritime industry in Indonesia. B. PURPOSE OF IMPLEMENTATION OF WORK PRACTICE The purpose of us is to carry out practical work at PT. Industri Kapal Indonesia is as follows: 1. Knowing the general description of PT. Industri Kapal Indonesia 1. Identify and study the causes of problems - problems that occur in the field and solve the handling based on the knowledge obtained in college. TERMS OF IMPLEMENTATION OF WORK PRACTICE The implementation of practical work carried out by students of the Department of Shipping Systems Engineering, Faculty of Marine Technology, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology was carried out on the shipyard with the following requirements: 1. Implementation is carried out for 1 month, starting from the date of the initial implementation of practical work. 2. Practical work I must be carried out at the shipyard. 3. Criteria for the implementation of practical work I on the shipyard must be carried out on the shipyard that is building a new ship and not ship repair (repair) or maintenance. The implementation of practical work includes the design and fabrication section, ship and piping construction parts, electrical and control installation parts, and ship machinery parts. D. BENEFITS OF ACTIVITIES The benefits of implementing practical work at PT. Industri Kapal Indonesia is as follows: 1. For Universities In addition to references regarding the development of laboratory research methods, the development of actualization of technology for educational support and input facilities for learning methods that can be used by college academics. 2. Agency Establishment of good relations between institutions and universities in the future, in which agencies are users of output from universities in the form of qualified human resources to meet the needs of competent workers. 3. Students Students can better understand the application of shipping science and other learning sciences acquired in lectures in particular into the world of work. E. FORMS OF ACTIVITY The forms of activities that will be carried out during practical work include several things. Details of the activities to be carried out are: 1. Study the operational system in the shipyard related to the ship production process which is guided by instructors from PT. Industri Kapal Indonesia 2. Understand the ship production process and production flow by carrying out activities in workshops in the shipyard. Study the design and construction of ships and sea structures by directly observing the parts on the ship and guided by instructors in the field. If possible, practical work participants can participate in the production process and be given assignments related to the construction of the ship. 4. Study the process of cutting plates, and the construction of new ship building blocks in the PT. Industri Kapal Indonesia 5. Studying the welding procedures of ship components and plate fabrication processes using machine tools at workshops in shipyards using machine tools with directives from field instructors. If possible, participants in practical work can be involved in the process. 6. Study the electrical installation procedures in new ship buildings with instructions from the field instructor PT. Industri Kapal Indonesia 7. Study the fabrication process and installation of piping systems as well as technical considerations of piping systems in new ship buildings with instructions from instructors in the field. 8. Study the process of construction and machining installations in new ship buildings both main engines and machinery assisting with directions from instructors in the field. 9. Study the outfitting process by carrying out practice activities related to ship outfitting. As for each of the above activities becomes material for us in the preparation of daily reports, weekly reports, and reports on the implementation of practical work carried out at PT. Industri Kapal Indonesia. The report will be compiled based on the systematic writing of reports that have been set with documentation of the implementation of practical work in the form of images.
