ABSTRAK
YEMIMA KRISTINA PANGABEAN. Peran Modal Sosial Dalam Penanggulangan
Kemiskinan Masyarakat Perkotaan. Di bawah bimbingan DJUARA P. LUBIS
Kemiskinan merupakan salah satu masalah sosial yang sangat kompleks dan tidak
mudah penanggulangannya. Banyak program yang diselenggarakan oleh pemerintah
dengan tujuan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat dan mengurangi kemiskinan,
baik dalam unit desa maupun kota. Kemiskinan pada masyarakat kota lebih tinggi
dibandingkan dengan masyarakat pedesaan, sementara kita ketahui pusat pembangunan
yang adalah salah satu pendekatan peningkatan kesejahteraan ialah daerah perkotaan.
Banyak faktor yang mengakibatkan atau mempengaruhi kemiskinan masyarakat
perkotaan lebih tinggi dibandingkan pedesaan, salah satunya ialah peran modal sosial
dalam masyarakat tersebut. Tujuan dari tulisan ini adalah menganalisis
bentuk/eksistensi modal sosial pada masyarakat perkotaan dan menganalisis peran
modal sosial dalam penanggulangan kemiskinan. Metode yang digunakan dalam
penulisan ini adalah metode analisis bahan pustaka, berupa skripsi, jurnal ilmiah, buku
teks, artikel, monograph, serta laporan hasil penelitian lainnya yang berkaitan dengan
peran modal sosial dalam penanggulangan kemiskinan. Hasil analisis menyatakan
bahwa modal sosial berpengaruh positif terhadap kemiskinan, dengan kata lain peran
modal sosial tergolong besar dalam penanggulangan kemiskinan.

Poverty is one of the social problems are very complex and not easy to reduct. Many
programmes organized by the Government with the aim of improving the well-being of
society and alleviate poverty, whether in the city or village unit. Poverty on society the
city higher compared to rural communities, while we know that development center is
one of the approaches to the improvement of well-being is urban areas. Many factors
that result in or affect poverty urban communities is higher than rural areas, one of
which is the role of social capital in the community. The purpose of this paper is to
analyze the form/the existence of social capital in urban communities and to analyze the
role of social capital in poverty reduction. Methods used in this analysis is a method of
writing references, in the form of theses, scientific journals, textbooks, articles,
monograph, as well as the report of the results of other research related to the role of
social capital in poverty reduction. The results of the analysis stated that the positive
effect of social capital against poverty, in other words the role of social capital belongs
in poverty reduction.
