ABSTRACT
SRI WAHYUNI SALAM. Red Blood Cell Count, Hemoglobin Concentration,
Hematocrit, and Erythrocytes Index of Female Swamp Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis).

SATYANINGTIJAS.
Hematological values of animal can provide information about the status
of animal health. This research was conducted to study the red blood cell count,
hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit, and erythrocytes index of female swamp
buffaloes under physiological status. Four female buffaloes with body weight
ranging from 250 kg to 300 kg were used in this research. Blood sampling were
performed every two days for ten weeks. Blood sampling was done through the
jugular vein every morning and collected by using an EDTA coated tube. The
result of this research showed that the red blood cell count was
(5.32±1.13) million/mm3, hemoglobin concentration was (10.60±1.14) gram%,
hematocrit was (25.49±3.05)%, Mean Corpuscular Volume was (49.81±11.08) fl,
Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin was (20.69±4.39) pg, and Mean Corpuscular
Hemoglobin Concentration was (41.82±3.76) gr/dl.

ABSTRAK
SRI WAHYUNI SALAM. Gambaran Jumlah Sel Darah Merah, Kadar
Hemoglobin, Nilai Hematokrit, dan Indeks Eritrosit pada Kerbau Lumpur
(Bubalus bubalis) Betina. Dibimbing oleh HERA MAHESHWARI dan ARYANI
SISMIN SATYANINGTIJAS.
Gambaran darah pada setiap individu hewan dapat memberikan informasi
mengenai status kesehatan hewan tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat
gambaran darah merah meliputi jumlah sel darah merah, kadar hemoglobin, nilai
hematokrit, dan indeks eritrosit pada kerbau lumpur betina. Sebanyak empat ekor
kerbau betina dengan bobot badan berkisar 250 kg sampai 300 kg digunakan
dalam penelitian ini. Pengambilan sampel darah dilakukan setiap dua hari sekali
selama sepuluh minggu. Pengambilan darah dilakukan setiap pagi hari melalui
vena jugularis dan dikoleksi dengan menggunakan tabung yang telah dilapisi
antikoagulan EDTA. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan, diperoleh
gambaran darah merah pada kerbau lumpur betina yaitu jumlah sel darah merah
sebanyak (5.32±1.13) juta/mm3, kadar hemoglobin sebesar (10.60±1.14) gram%,
nilai hematokrit (25.49±3.05)%, Mean Corpuscular Volume (49.81±11.08) fl,
Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (20.69±4.39) pg, dan Mean Corpuscular
Hemoglobin Concentration (41.82±3.76) gr/dl.
