A total of 70% Candida’s infection caused by this species. Disease caused by this fungus known as Candidiasis and often occur in the oropharynx and vaginal area. High incidence of fungal infections and development of resistance to drugs led to the search of the bacteria metabolites which potential as an antifungal. One of the natural resources that potential as an antifungal compounds are microorganisms, including Lactic Acid Bacteria. LAB is a group of non-toxic microorganisms toward the host and able to produce compounds which can kill pathogen microbes. Antifungal compounds produced by LAB come from primary metabolites includes lactic acid and acetic acid, also another antimicrobial compounds such as hydrogen peroxide, diacetyl and bacteriocins. The purpose of this study was to find out the genus of vaginal Lactic Acid Bacteria which could inhibit the growth of C. albicans and determined the ability of antimicrobials from LAB isolates against C. albicans. This research used descriptive method with several steps such as isolation, identification, selection and inhibition test. Potential isolates were tested its antimicrobial activity against C. albicans, including antifungal activity test, measurement of lactic acid levels, cells number count and pH measurement. Based on Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology, characteristics of colony morphology and biochemistry of eight isolates were suitable to the character of the Lactobacillus genus. Isolate Lac3V had the best ability to inhibit the growth of C. albicans. The inhibitory activity was influenced by the production of lactic acid. Unneutralize supernatant Lac3V had stronger inhibitory activity with an inhibition zone 14.5 mm at 16 hours of incubation.
