EFEK INDUKSI HIPOTIROID DENGAN PROPILTHYOURACIL (PTU)
TERHADAP BERAT BADAN TIKUS PUTIH (Rattus Norvegicus)

Hipotiroid merupakan suatu kondisi yang disebabkan defisiensi hormon tiroid,
yang mengakibatkan melambatnya proses metabolisme. Pemberian obat antitiroid
merupakan salah satu faktor pemicu Hipotiroid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
mengetahui pengaruh induksi hipotiroid terhadap pertambahan berat badan tikus galur
Wistar. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan 14 ekor tikus berumur 3-4 bulan, yang dibagi
dalam dua kelompok. Tikus ditimbang berat badannya seminggu sekali selama 2 bulan.
Pemberian Propilthyouracil (PTU) pada kedua kelompok dengan dosis 10,8 mg/kg
berat badan diberikan secara peroral selama 2 minggu. Setelah diadaptasi selama satu
minggu, tikus pada kelompok 2 diberi Thyrax dengan dosis 0,0018 mg/kg berat badan
selama 4 minggu.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penurunan berat badan pada minggu
ke nol sampai minggu kedua setelah intervensi PTU dengan meningkatnya kadar
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). Setelah pemberian Thyrax selama empat minggu
berat badan tikus mengalami peningkatan dan kadar TSH kembali stabil.

ABSTRACT
EFFECT OF HYPOTHYROIDISM INDUCTION WITH
PROPILTHYOURACIL (PTU) TO BODY WEIGHT WHITE RAT
(Rattus Norvegicus)

Hypothyroidism is a condition that caused by deficiency of thyroid hormones,
which result in slowing of metabolic prosesses. Antithyroid drug delivery is one of the
causes of Hypothyroidism. This study aimed to determine the effect of Induced
hypothyroidism to weight gain on Wistar rats. This study used 14 rats aged 3-4 months
divided into two groups. The rats were weighed once a week for 2 months.
Propilthyouracil (PTU) given in both groups with a dose of 10,8 mg/kg body weight
administered orally for 2 weeks. The mice in the second group were given a dose of
Thyrax (0.0018 mg/kg body weight) for 4 weeks after adapted for a week. The results
showed weight loss at zero week until the second week after the PTU intervention with
increased levels of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). After giving Thyrax for four
weeks, the weight of the rats had been increased and the levels of TSH back to
stabilized.
